Smart review sorting automatically shows your most converting reviews at the top of your Product Reviews Widget. Instead of sorting by date or rating alone, smart sorting utilizes AI to rank reviews based on media, authenticity, clarity, and how well it helps other shoppers proceed to checkout.

How does smart review sorting work?
Smart sorting uses AI to evaluate each review and calculate a score based on quality, authenticity, and usefulness signals. Key factors include:
Media clarity: Good lighting, sharp focus, natural colors, no heavy filters
Product visibility: The product is clearly seen, centered, and easy to identify
Authenticity: Genuine customer feedback
Real people and moments: Humans or pets interacting naturally with the product, visible faces, relatable or emotional moments
Relevance: Reviews that match the product name and category
Helpfulness for other shoppers: Demonstrates product use, before or after results.
How to enable smart review sorting
Smart review sorting is the default sorting type for merchants on the Convert plan. To change your sorting type:
- Within “Reviews”, go to "Reviews widgets”, and open the Product Reviews Widget editor.
- Under “Preferences”, select your preferred sorting option.
- Click “Save”.
Note: Smart review sorting only applies to reviews submitted starting December 3, 2025.
